Episode 14: A life lost before it began and perfectly sized baby booties: Rosie’s Story

This episode was recorded as part of a series for my End of Life class in my Masters in Social Work program.

Rosie so generously offered to share her story, making time amidst classes, internship, and raising her children. She spoke so fluidly and openly, which is a testament to her spirit, given that we hadn’t spoken together outside of class before this conversation.

The details she shares about losing her infant child Norah, who died as a twin in utero, bring up such a mix of emotions for me. In the editing process, tears came to my eyes multiple times; and simultaneously, I hold such awe and respect for the grace and sweetness that are present throughout the telling of her experience.

This episode touches on some powerful topics: the vital need for compassion in our daily interactions with others, the spiritual journey that is attendant to becoming a mother, what is means to hold life and death in the exact same breath.
